Words about Bananas

Once upon a time
A lady took me to a supermarket
She needed a few items
To keep in her room:
Yogurt and bananas

First, we collect yogurt
A package of four small ones
I keep them on my windowsill
She tells me
It’s cold and works like a fridge

Next, we go to bananas
Heaps of them await us
I like small yellow ones
She grabs the tiniest yellow bananas
Never those large ones, please!

Years later,
I find tiny yellow bananas
Amidst my grocery shopping
And I think of her
How she’d be pleased

A few tiny yellow bananas
Four small packets of yogurt
On the windowsill of her bedroom
That’s a picture
Forever etched into my heart
