Mother Dreamed a Dream

When she was young
She had a dream
Her dream was to become a doctor
Who can save people’s lives
The dream lit her up
Because it was her real dream

Then some situations happened
Obstacles appeared
And after many thoughts
She took another road
She didn’t become a doctor

Half a century later
She still remembers her dream
She tells me that
It’s a fulfilling job to be a doctor
And that I could have been one

She has forgotten yet again
That being a doctor
Has never been my dream
My dream is to heal people’s spirits
Using imagination and words

Irritated, I turn to correct her
But what I find there is only
Her shining dreaming eyes
Why not?
Suddenly, a voice says in my head
Let her dream all she wants!
